Hello, Is It Me You’re Looking For?

In an age where there are more dating apps than meaningful conversations, and friends are better at matching socks than matching up, finding that significant other feels rather like a sport. A confusing sport, where the rules are never explained and all participants seem to be in a different field.

First, there is the endless swiping. Hours go into perfecting the profile, writing a description that somehow manages to balance humor, intelligence, and a vague interest in outdoor activities… because we were asked to!

Next comes the waiting… will there be a match? Will there be a message? Will it be more than just a “Hello”? The suspense is so built up it’s almost a thriller.

It’s a Game of Chance

Real-life encounters involve a pure chance for luck. The local coffee shop? Perhaps. The corner store? Doubtful. It’s like attempting to win the Lotto, except that these odds are much worse. All the right moves were made; standing in line at the hip cafe, going to those dreaded social events, even faking like we know something about wine tasting. Yet, nothing.
