How Cars Reflect The State Of The World
Strolling around a car dealership in 2024, or even just stuck in traffic like most of us, just take a look at the surrounding cars. It’s peculiar, but modern cars look well macho. From the “nostrils” of sports cars, to the mean headlights of small SUVs, it seems like all vehicles on the road have something mad about them. What is this design trend, and more important, what does this mean about the world we live in?

Once upon a time, cars had a friendlier appealing in their shape. Think back to the Volkswagen Beetle; its round headlights gave it a wide, almost cheerful expression. Or the older Mini Coopers, which looked like a litter of puppies rather than a mode of transportation. Now forget about all of these, in recent times vehicles have traded their welcoming smiles for menacing frowns. Take the Dodge Charger for instance; this car looks like it was built prepared for an undeclared war. Even soccer-mom SUVs have adopted this aggressive demeanor in their designed faces. You see one of these vehicles through the rear-view mirror, and it feels intimidating.
