How OpenAI’s GPT-o1 Model Works & What It Means For You
In September 2024, OpenAI has introduced GPT-o1, a landmark model that resets the current progression in terms of AI development. Unlike previous models, GPT-o1 is designed for “chain-of-thought” reasoning. It reasons in step sequence, so to speak, before presenting the actual answer. This helps it nail complex tasks such as problem-solving, coding, and logic-based queries.
GPT-o1 bests even GPT-4o on a lot of benchmarks; a quantum leap in progress toward more thoughtful and AGI-aligned computing. The model is available through ChatGPT Plus, making these advancements available to paid users.

What Sets GPT-o1 Apart?
While the GPT-3 and GPT-4 series were iterative updates, GPT-o1 is something different. The name itself gives a glimpse: rather than focusing on natural language and being fluent, it’s optimized for reasoning. OpenAI has reset the naming scheme, and that is a hint; this model is different. Series o1 models use reinforcement learning to master far more…
